Reverend Trevor Wyatt Tree Planting for the Queens Green Canopy at GreenAcres Kemnal Park

GreenAcres Kemnal Park invite Reverend Trevor Wyatt from Christchurch Bexley Heath and Chairperson of Bexley Interfaith Forum to join them to “Plant a tree for the Jubilee” at their award-winning cemetery and ceremonial park in Chislehurst, Kent. 

GreenAcres Kemnal Park are taking part in The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC). This unique tree planting initiative marks Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 and invites people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”.  

The Park are proud to be part of creating a legacy in honour of Her Majesty, The Queen’s leadership of the Nation, which will benefit future generations. They provide a unique cemetery and ceremonial park serving the members of all faiths and communities creating a special place that is both tranquil and uplifting at a time of great sadness. 

Senior Operations Manager Sharon Solomon said: “I am pleased to help enhance our local environment by being part of this project. We have carefully considered the surrounding native woodland and have chosen to plant a Pin Oak tree which will fit perfectly into the landscape. We were delighted when Reverend Wyatt agreed to plant the tree with us. We have been active supporters of the work that he and the Bexley Interfaith Forum does for our community” 

Reverend Wyatt shared his thoughts on the service of Her Majesty, The Queen and the legacy and planting this tree: “I believe that the Queen has been the most exemplary example of Christian service to our nation and to the wider world.  She has been a figure of unity for the UK and has been able to bring people together, from across all faith traditions and none, particularly when we have faced difficult and challenging times.  

“Planting this tree is a tangible sign of our support to Her Majesty and all that she has done.  It is also a sign of our commitment to act for the good of the environment and the future of our planet. As a church we are actively working to see how we can reduce our carbon footprint and make the necessary investments to achieve this.”   

Kelly Coleman, Grounds Manager at GreenAcres Kemnal Park said: ”Being part of QGC allows us to highlight the significant value of trees and woodlands as nature’s simple but highly effective way to clean the air we breathe, slow the impact of climate change, create important wildlife habitats and improve our general health and wellbeing.”  

The GreenAcres Group recently conducted a survey of over 2000 UK residents, asking people about environmental consciousness in relation to funerals – 53% of the population stated that it was important to them.
