Monday 20th July 2015
On the 4th of July GreenAcres – Rainford held it’s annual ‘Working Woodland Day’ showcasing a range of activities from field archery, kids crafts, birds of prey, face painting, reptiles, donkey rides, craft stalls and woodland workshops. Families enjoyed their lunch at the park thanks to the Tartan Tea Rooms who provided visitors with a selection of sandwiches and beverages during the course of the day.
The event raised some much needed funds for local and national charities, thanks to kind donations from visitors to the park in return for taking part in activities and payment for goods at the various stalls on the day.
MacMillan Cancer Support – Book Stall – books donated by St Helens College
Willowbrook Hospice – Craft stalls
Tears for Animals – Tombola
RSPB – Stall
Wildlife Trust – Woodland workshop
Child Bereavement UK – Face painting & kids craft tent.
In total we raised £1,247.
A special thank you to our hardworking volunteers Tony Higgins and John Barlow who helped us throughout the day making the whole operation so much easier thanks to their presence!
We hope you like the pictures of the event taken by Mr Heggarty who belongs to St Helens Camera Club. If you have any pictures of the event, feel free to send them in and we will post them on our Facebook page.
