Local star of BBC’s 2013 MasterChef series, Saira Hamilton supported GreenAcres Woodland Burials – Epping Forest’s Macmillan Coffee Morning.
Saira was a contestant on TV’s MasterChef 2013, where she reached the final four and won high praise from judges and chefs for her delicious dishes drawing on her Bengali heritage. Now of ‘Small Aubergine’, specialising in fine Indian food for private dining, corporate events and cookery lessons, Saira shared tips and techniques to re-create her Indian-inspired dishes at home, using the best of seasonal and local produce.
Saira has been been cooking for as long as she can remember, mainly inspired by her mum, Nadira, and her incredibly intuitive ability to take ordinary everyday ingredients and create them into an extraordinarily good meal. Saira’s talk and cookery demonstration with tasty samples at the end was a big success.
MasterChef 2013 has changed Saira’s life and she has now made the leap from gifted amateur to professional chef. She now offers private dining, cookery lessons and demonstrations through her company, small aubergine. She has made appearances at the BBC Good Food Show and other food festivals. She also writes a regular column in the Herts & Essex Observer.
We would like to thank Saira for lending her support to our Macmillan fundraising event this year and sharing her MasterChef story.
The event raised £209.50 for Macmillan, which will be match-funded by GreenAcres Woodland Burials – Epping Forest’s parent company, Bibby Line Group to bring the total donation to £419.
