GreenAcres Woodland Burials in Colney, Norwich is one of the very best parks in the UK – and that’s official.
Keep Britain Tidy has announced a record-breaking number of award-winning parks and green spaces for 2013.
The park is among a record-breaking 1,447 parks and green spaces that will today receive a prestigious Green Flag Award.
GreenAcres Woodland Burials – Colney opened in 1999 and has 12-acres of native woodland. The meticulous management of the wood helps to support hundreds of species, including Greater Spotted Woodpeckers, Tree Creepers and Jays. The park also plays host to stunning displays of Bluebells and Foxgloves each year to provide a perfect place for peaceful reflection and remembrance for the hundreds of families with loved ones laid to rest at Colney.
Rachel Hogg, Marketing and Community Liaison at GreenAcres Woodland Burials – Colney said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive a Green Flag Award again this year” “This Award recognises and highlights that people in Norwich and the surrounding area are benefiting from a green space of the very highest quality.
The Colney team were joined in their celebrations this week by Dr Rupert Read – the Green Party’s Lead MEP candidate for the East of England 2014 elections, who was impressed by the both the park and the award. Dr Read said “My congratulations to Colney for having won this award: richly deserved! The site is natural and beautiful – in fact I have decided that one day – hopefully not for many years – I’d like to be buried in a woodland burial at Colney myself.”
