Covid-19 and GreenAcres update
Over the last few weeks, we have been following the UK government’s advice on dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak. Following the government’s most recent advice about gatherings and events we are doing everything we can to stay open and available for families and Funeral Directors alike. With this in mind, we have had to make some difficult decisions as to how we operate our parks for the foreseeable future.
FUNERALS & WAKES IN THE PARK
At the time of writing this, funeral services will still go ahead as planned but social distancing will be observed and led by your Funeral Director. From Wednesday 1st April we will no longer be able to offer wakes as part of our service so families will need to make other arrangements for these to take place outside of the park.
Our ceremonial buildings will remain locked at all times to general park visitors and will only be opened for funeral services. Some of our parks have an outside toilet and these will be made available for visitors and clearly signposted. Hand sanitisers will be in place and we would like to remind you to follow the NHS guidelines to handwashing which you can read here.
Our offices will temporarily be closed on Sundays, but our gates will remain open to visitors (access to Heatherlery Wood is via a pedestrian only gate).
Please note assistance and facilities will not be available so if you require use of these, then we would suggest visiting on another day.
BY APPOINTMENT ONLY
In the interest of safety, we are moving to an appointment-only system for families wishing to visit the park to make funeral arrangements. Without an appointment our team will be unable to meet with you.
Supporting our families after the service has taken place is something the team at GreenAcres pride themselves on and over the last few years we have worked very hard at bringing our community together through events.
Mother’s Day Event – Sunday 23rd March
We know for some of our families Mother’s Day is a very special day so cancelling this event has not been an easy decision to make. We really don’t want to put anyone at risk and hope you will understand our reasons for cancelling.
Our parks will still be open for families wishing to visit their loved ones, but our assistance and facilities will not be available.
Monthly coffee mornings
Our monthly coffee mornings are another great way of bringing our community together so we know by postponing these families will naturally be upset. For some our coffee mornings are a lifeline so that’s why it’s important to everyone at GreenAcres that we keep in touch and continue to support as many people as we can during these difficult times.
We are proposing to hold a ‘virtual’ coffee morning with the team in your park each month while the Coronavirus threat continues. What this means is that you get to make a cuppa at home, put your feet up and then join us and the rest of our community on the phone for a chat. Even if you haven’t attended a coffee morning before but fancy a chat you are very welcome to join us. If you fancy joining us for a coffee and chat in the ‘virtual’ world then please contact your local park and we’ll take care of the rest.
