A Second Chance to Say Goodbye
Losing someone we love is one of the hardest experiences any of us have to endure. Often the circumstances or the stress surrounding bereavement mean that your memories of that time are blurred, and it can be weeks or even months later that you realise – you didn’t have the chance to say goodbye properly.
To help people come to terms with this, and to give them another chance to say goodbye, GreenAcres Woodland Burial Parks run Remembrance Services every month. The services are open to everyone, not just those who have friends or family buried at the parks. They are non-denominational, free to attend, and offer people an opportunity to think about their loss in their own way and their own time.
You might simply not have had the time to say goodbye when your loved one died. You might not have been in the right frame of mind to gather your thoughts, to allow you to say all the things you wanted to say. Maybe a lost pregnancy was altogether too traumatic or too sudden to have come to terms with at the time. Whatever the circumstances, the GreenAcres parks Remembrance Services are designed to let you think and say whatever you wish, in the way that seems right for you.
The services are on the last Saturday of the month and will be held at the parks in Epping Forest, the Chilterns and Colney, in each instance in the Woodland Hall. The next service – at each park – is 27th April at 11.30am to 12.00 noon, and people attending will be able to listen to readings and some gentle music, perhaps write a message if they wish, or leave some flowers. No booking is necessary – just come along.
Before and after the services, in fact at any time on any day, people are free to walk around the woodland in peace, or sit and simply contemplate in solitude. The parks are a community resource for everyone to enjoy should they need somewhere to reflect.
