Some of you avid readers may remember an article from last year about the Oliver King Foundation. For those of you that don’t remember, for the last 18 months we have been saving for a defibrillator from the Oliver King Foundation. This is a charity set up by Mark King who tragically lost his son to a cardiac arrest in March 2011, unfortunately a lifesaving Defibrillator was not available. Each week an unbelievable 35 young people under the age of 12 will die from Sudden Arrhythmic Death syndrome, a hidden heart condition that can affect even the most fit and healthy of people. Mark’s mission is to make it a legal requirement to have a Defibrillator in a building just like a fire extinguisher.
The money that you fantastic people have raised has now gone to The Oliver King Foundation and last week we received our very own Defibrillator at the park. The team at GreenAcres Rainford went through an afternoon of training to learn how to use the defibrillator and received a certificate on completion of the training.
So your next visit to the park will be in the safe knowledge that one of our lovely team are here should any of you need your lives saving!
